It all began on
May 14th, 1965…
It all began on May 14th, 1965, when Joe Watson Senior founded the company with a focus on applying practical science and his extensive experience to develop exacting standards in horticultural and forestry techniques. Today, those same standards remain the cornerstone of the company’s practices.
In 1992, Joe Watson Junior took over the business from his father and set about nurturing it into one of the most respected and highly regarded landscaping companies in the region. 16 years later in 2008, the company changed its name from Cotswold Estate Services Ltd to Cotswold Estates and Gardens, Ltd, to reflect its expansion and the broadening of the range of services it offers clients to include full project management from design to completion.
In 2011, the company we built our own new offices and extended the workshop to house its growing team of experts and state-of-the-art equipment and machinery. The site also boasts a ground source heat pump system, which is an ultra-efficient and eco-friendly way to extract heat from the ground to warm the premises.
The current decade sees a company focus on ensuring quality, both in delivery and execution of landscaping services and also in safeguarding the environment and the health, safety and welfare of our employees and stakeholders. We are constantly striving to improve our business practices and committed to surpassing our legal and ethical obligations to grow our people, protect the environment, recycle materials, and minimise our environmental impact wherever practicable.
We plan to celebrate our companies 60th birthday (2025) by exhibiting a show garden at the Malvern Show, celebrating our longevity and achievements.

Hot on the heels of our award-winning show garden in 2013 at the RHS Malvern Show, Cotswold Estates and Gardens receives a BALI award for ‘high levels of professionalism, workmanship and client satisfaction’ for the private garden at Down Ampney.
In 2015
Celebrating 50 years of serving the Cotswolds, we were awarded a prestigious Silver Guilt Medal by the Royal Horticultural Society for our ‘Cotswold Way‘ Show Garden, and we were particularly proud to win the coveted Peoples Choice award.
