This large private garden project was a total redesign by Tim Rees of Trees Associates and due to the large scale of the project Cotswold Estates and Gardens where required to undertake the work in phases. Initial phases included the removal of existing infrastructure including the drive, hedges and wall to allow the creation of a new gravel parking area and the redirection of drive. Formal gardens were created close to the house and included an Italianate water fountain within a buxus parterre and scented planting.
The project required the construction of cotswold stone retaining walls, steps, reclaimed stone terraces and gravel paths. The sunken lawn had to be remodelled and drainage installed to prevent flooding and lavender borders created. The scheme required many large, semi mature plants, including an avenue of Cherry trees, mature yew hedges and 4m tall hornbeam pyramids.
The two-acre existing lake was dredged and re-shaped and the excavated silt was dried and reused to re-model the contours of the adjacent paddock to provide interest and to enhance the tree planting. A Western Red Cedar decking bridge was constructed across one of the weirs created to control the water level in the lake.

"Good morning Joe, Ann, Trevor and team
As you know, we had 12+ people here for last weekend who tested the new garden/grounds layout to the maximum. It was such a joy to see people wandering around the paths, walkways, bridges, steps and lawns without returning caked in mud. A relaxed time was had in the sunshine and there was great admiration for your collective work. We aren’t quite finished yet but so much has been achieved in the past year to such a high level and with such forethought and care that it made a huge difference. The whole new secret garden is practical as well as beautiful and, yes, fizz was drunk there in the early evening.
Thank you all and to Jasper and the rest of the Cotswolds team who have worked so very hard."

Joe, I’m ecstatic I love the whole garden so much! Thank you, you and the boys always give me exactly what I hope for! It’s almost a shame there are no more projects!
